Make a Difference stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Hi there,

Today I'd like to introduce one of the new stamp sets from the Stampin' Up 18-19 catalogue. This stamp set is called "Make a Difference" and here it is:

This is a fabulous alphabet stamp set with a difference - a beautiful, quirky script alphabet with both Upper and Lower case letters, including some doubles and useful combinations. And a set of co-ordinating numbers. And lots of punctuation marks. As well as a smaller, plainer upper case alphabet with numbers and punctuation. Plus lots of useful phrases and a couple of images - a floral spray and a small border. Really getting a lot for your money here!

Here are a few examples from the catalogue of projects using this set

Would you like to see the set in action? Have a quick look at the official Stampin' Up! video HERE or by clicking the image below:

As soon as I saw the new catalogue back in April, I knew this stamp set would be one of the first to jump into my basket! My first project with this set was to make a 21st birthday card for my youngest daughter (the one who is on camp in West Virginia, USA for the summer!). Once the milestone birthday has been reached I'll be able to show you on here - don't want to post before in case she is stalking my blog from afar!

Hope you liked having a closer at this set. Back soon,

Jill xx

Watercolour card with Beautiful Bouquet from Stampin' Up!

Hi there everyone,

Today I am bringing you this card which I made for a very good friend of mine a few weeks ago:

Rainbow beautiful bouquet from Stampin Up

My friend is also a papercrafter and card maker so making her a card requires a lot of thought to come up with something different (by the way she says the same about me!). She had shown me a photo of a card she liked on Pinterest so I used that as my inspiration.

Beautiful bouquet with rainbow from Stampin' Up!

I first made the watercoloured panel - you can see how on the video below. And then I stamped and cut out the small flowers from Beautiful Bouquet in black Memento ink and clear embossed them to give a lovely shine. But be warned, you will have to work very quickly as the Memento ink dries really quickly and then the embossing powder won't stick to it - you'll see what I mean if you watch the video. I must also apologise for the abrupt ending to the tutorial - my camera shuts down after 16 minutes and I didn't realise we had reached that point. Anyway I hope the video will show you what you need to see. Watch it HERE or by clicking on the image below:

Hope you liked today's project and that you might have a go at re-creating it!
These are the measurements you need if you do:

METRIC
Whisper White card blank - 21cm x 15cm - score on the long side at 10.5cm
Top watercolor paper panel - 10cm x 4.5cm
Lower watercolor paper panel - 10cm x 1.2cm

IMPERIAL
Whisper White card blank - 8 1/4 ins x 6 ins - score on the long side at 4 1/8ins
Top watercolor paper panel - 4 ins x 1 3/4 ins
Lower watercolor paper panel - 4 ins x 7/16in

Back soon,

Jill

Missing In Action for a couple of days

Hey everyone,

Thanks for dropping by to see what I've been up to today. Sadly I don't have a project to share today as I'm away from home for a few days. Its been a hectic time for me just recently but I'm hoping it should be a bit less so for the next few weeks and that I can get lots of crafting done.

So what have I been up to? Well for the past few weeks I've been working on updating, decluttering and remodelling my studio. After several trips to IKEA it is nearly finished - I will give you a little tour when its done. But that has taken up a lot of my time.

Then I have been helping my youngest daughter, Annie get ready for a big adventure. On Sunday, she travelled to West Virginia USA with Camp America to work on one of the summer camps for 8 weeks. Here she is just leaving the house to go to the airport.

I'm going to miss her so much but she will have a fabulous time I'm sure.

After dropping her off at the airport I travelled on further (for another 170 miles!) to Norfolk to visit my parents who live in a small coastal town called Gorleston, which is where I am now. This is the town I grew up in and although I couldn't wait to get away when I was younger, now I love to visit and especially love to go to the seafront and the beach. Its always relatively quiet, even in mid summer, but there is a beautiful wide golden beach and I love to hear the sound of the waves.

Just beautiful.

But I'll be heading back home on Wednesday and will be back with a whole host of gorgeous projects using new products from the new catalogue. Please pop back and visit me then!

Jill xx

New Designer Series Paper

I absolutely love this time of the year - the sun is shining, trees are blossoming AND we have a new catalogue. There's nothing quite like the anticipation of opening the catalogue for the first time and making your first "wish list". And I love new products -  inking up a stamp set for the first time, unwrapping a brand new punch or "oohing and aahing" over some new patterned papers. Those of you well versed in all things Stampin' Up! will know that we call our range of patterned papers Designer Series Papers. Each new catalogue I love sussing out the new papers  - the colours and patterns make me very happy and get my creative mind going.
The problem with the Designer Series paper packs is that they are very difficult to show off to their best effect in the catalogue. So helpfully Stampin' Up have made this short video to give you a closer look.

So which papers are on your wish list? My favourites at the moment are the Share What You Love Speciality Papers and the Garden Impressions - but that will change I'm sure as I see all the fantastic projects being made with the others.

Til next time, happy crafting,

Jill xx
